We are pleased to announce details of our latest benefit evening – a fundraiser for The Woodland Trust – the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity. The evening will consist of two cycle touring talks. There will also be a raffle, tea + cake and an information stall. Plus more warmth and good vibes than you can shake a stick at. And a big one at that.
In October 2018 Gary Seabrook cycled 3,000 miles across the USA from California to Florida raising money for Greenpeace. He faced huge challenges on his ride, crossing deserts and mountain passes. He battled with extreme temperatures, diced with death on the Interstates and dodged logging trucks on back roads. Despite the challenges, the journey took him through breath taking scenery and wide open places where he met intriguing characters from mule herders to border control officers. Time and time again he was offered friendship and kindness by complete strangers who inspired him to keep moving across the country.
Lucy Pedler with husband Paul cycled 800km from the source to the sea on the banks of the Rhine river. The experience was such a delight that she then did the same distance again the next year, this time along the Danube river. Lucy will talk about some of the highlights of the journeys including staying in a monastery serving up home brewed beer and being chased by a local journalist for a story. These brilliant stories together with some photos will show how long distance cycling and good cycle paths create an unforgettable and joyful experience.
Doors open 7pm and the first talk will commence at 7.30pm
Tickets are £7.50 and are available from
