Back End Developer


As a backend developer at LettUs Grow, you will report directly to our Software Manager. You will be helping to develop Ostara, our leading indoor farm control and management software.

You will be joining a very small team of software developers using a wide variety of technologies ranging from low level embedded C to Linux, AWS-cloud, PostgreSQL, Django and Vue. In the future, the scope of technology being used will grow to encompass large-scale IoT control, data science optimisation and hybrid on-premise/cloud architectures, with the opportunity to grow and choose your specialties.

You can expect to be delegated responsibility at an early stage and will have a real opportunity to progress quickly as the company scales. This role is ideal for a diligent, personable applicant who is keen to grow with an impact-led startup.

Salary band: £22,000 - £27,500, dependent upon experience

Your responsibilities:

Expand and develop an evolving REST API and database

Create a robust python library and control interface

Work as part of a small software team, balancing a complex set of requirements and demands

What you need:

2 years industry experience

Experience working with Python, ideally with Django, or other backend frameworks

An understanding of full stack development including Linux, Relational Databases, Backend and Frontend

Also desirable:

Have worked with SQL-style databases, ideally PostgreSQL

Docker, container and cloud infrastructure experience

Experience using POSIX

An understanding of state logic control system programming

An understanding of Embedded PLC programing and communication

The position is full-time, based in central Bristol and will benefit from training and external mentoring. Salary will be competitive to match experience, with the benefit of employee share options scheme. LettUs Grow Ltd is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
