Income Generation & Marketing Senior Project Officer

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and committed team working on Phase II of the Lottery Funded Communities Prepared programme, which is taking a ground-breaking step forward for community resilience by empowering and mobilising community volunteers to prepare for, react to and help with the recovery from flooding events and other emergencies.

Starting in October 2018, Communities Prepared Phase II is being developed over a three year period as an innovative national roll-out resource with a centralised Hub and Digital Platform. The Hub will include; staff; website; adaptable community resources; training and a train the trainer programme; advice, community development and support; development of the Community Flood and Emergency Cycle and a smartphone App. All to be provided through a three tiered membership support package.

Main Duties

-Aim to market our services to Communities, Community Leaders, Local Authorities and Parish and Town Councils and Resilience Networks
-Assist local communities seeking flood resilience training and support, and third party partners acting on their behalf, to secure funding, with the aim of providing the project free at the point of delivery
-Research funding opportunities, and work alongside the Groundwork Development team write bids and tender responses
-Alongside the Programme Manager create a 3 year business plan for the project and execute the deliverables of this plan
-Use various tools to understand the marketplace, customers and a tiered membership offer
-Build and maintain strong partnerships to support income generation
-Develop tiered membership system harnessing digital technology opportunities
-Test marketing and online sales models for the Communities Prepared project, such as the use of social media and blogs
-Be willing to undertake a team approach to the project, deputising for the Communities Prepared Programme Manager and supporting the Community Development and Training Senior Project Officer
-As part of the Communities Prepared team interpret and share the collective learning around community resilience, community emergency planning and response
-Alongside the Community Development and Training Senior Project Officer support the delivery of training sessions to communities (including some evening and weekend sessions)
-Develop and collate fundraising tools and other materials which can be used on various platforms (Website, Community Resources and Development of the Community Flood and Emergency Cycle)
-Monitor progress against agreed targets and outcomes in relation to income generation and marketing, contributing to reports to the funder and partners
-Travel nationally to meet the above duties
