ShareAction is looking for a new Shareholder Activism Coordinator to join our team. The coordinator will help a diverse range of individuals, institutions and campaign groups to attend and ask questions at company Annual General Meetings (AGMs) during the 2019 ‘season’ from March-July 2019. The objective is to hold companies to account on their social and environmental performance, and to push for improvements by asking Boards of Directors carefully crafted questions on issues such as the real Living Wage, gender equality, climate change and sustainable food systems. The questions asked will usually be on ShareAction campaign topics, but can also be determined by partner organisations, or the interests of our supporters. Topics include climate change, employee issues, sustainable food systems and other related topics.
You will deliver training sessions for people planning to ask an AGM question, both in the UK and abroad, working with other ShareAction team members to do so. Trainees will range from institutional investors with a concern for environmental, social and governance issues, to ShareAction’s partner organisations and individuals who are directly affected by the practices of a company whose AGM they plan to attend. Part of this role is to build relationships with groups and individuals based in the UK and continental Europe, such as campaigning organisations, unions, students, company employees, and vulnerable groups, and support them to attend AGMs.
You will be responsible for coordinating ShareAction’s AGM interventions across the organisation, managing our network of AGM volunteers, arranging all the necessary paperwork for AGM attendees, briefing them on what to expect at the AGMs, supporting them with drafting questions, preparing detailed action packs and assisting with follow-up correspondence with companies after the AGMs. You should have a keen interest in current affairs in order to spot potential opportunities to ask AGM questions about topics that are in the news.
You will work with our Comms team to develop an AGM season comms strategy, and support our AGM attendees to prepare blogs, vlogs and other online content throughout the AGM season as part of this.
Finally, you will organize social events, such as our legendary summer party, to bring our m together and make sure that they feel part of a movement.
We will train and support the successful candidate to learn everything they need to know about AGMs and our campaigns.
Your job description may change after August 2019, as the AGM season becomes much quieter. You may be asked to work with ShareAction’s movement building team on projects that align with your interests and skills.

Experience organising events
Experience writing high-quality, engaging communications materials such as mass emails, press releases, and social media content.
Experience delivering trainings
Knowledge of leading business and human rights and environmental issues
An understanding of the role of the investment sector in influencing corporate behaviour on social and environmental impact
Willingness to travel for work across the UK and Europe, on an occasional basis
Additional European languages are an asset
