Work Zone Mentor


Main aim: to provide regular 1:1 support to individuals actively seeking work to help them set and achieve employability goals

Experience and skills
• An understanding of the issues facing unemployed people
• A good knowledge of IT and confidence with using the internet
• Good communication and listening skills and a helpful and open manner
• Reliability and commitment
• A good level of written English and literacy
• A willingness to work with people of different ages with varying abilities
• A commitment to equalities and diversity

Tasks and responsibilities
• To engage in an employability mentoring relationship with a client for a number of hours over a set period e.g. 1-2 hrs per week over 2-3 months
• To support client with achieving an employability goal/goals
e.g. create a CV / complete a job application / prepare for an interview
• To attend initial mentor training and other training/support as required
• To adhere to Buzz Lockleaze’s equal opportunities policy and practice

• To respect client confidentiality and adhere to data protection principles
• All mentors will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
